based on the book by Eckert of the above title. The work herein
was commissioned by Don Meier Productions of Chicago and includes
Eckert's own onionskin carbon copy of the 35-page shooting script
proposal he wrote of major sequences and scenes (the first few pages
sun-stained); plus an onionskin carbon copy of the scene-by-scene
breakdown of the book (the outer right-hand edges of the proposal
somewhat ragged from use); plus Eckert's 77-page manuscript of detailed
scenes from the book that are keyed to the actual published book,
which is itself included (the book pages marked to correlate with
the scenes manuscript and appearing in the British edition of this
work, published by Victor Gollancz, Ltd., London; plus 65 pages
of original letters and Xerox copies of correspondence engaged in

HAB Theory (research manuscript)
This manuscript
is a transcript of three tracks of audio-tape recorded by Eckert
on July 9, 1971 during his research interview of Hugh Auchincloss
Brown in Douglastown, Long Island, NY. Brown, then 94 years old,
was the real-life postulator of the theory that the earth is subject
to periodic cataclysms of staggering proportions, due to excessive
build-up of ice at the polar caps. Transcriptions of the remaining
tapes, recorded over a three-day period, are not available. This
manuscript being offered is a 106-page onionskin copy of the original
manuscript, which was so important in the writing of Eckert's very
popular novel, The HAB Theory. This manuscript is itself
an unpublished document.

This manuscript
is an 18-page, 6,225-word transcription of audio tapes recorded
by Eckert during his June 21-July 6 opal research trip from Ohio
to Virgin Valley, Nevada, with his friend, Alan Vogel. Data collected
at the opal mines in Virgin Valley were integral to the writing
of The World of Opals. This manuscript transcription has
never been published.

Sons of New York City. It includes all the photo captions, photo
layout and usage memos, pages of miscellaneous notes and comments

dust jacket copy, black-and-white Xerox copies of color plates,
Xeroxed photos with captions, printer layout instructions, bibliography
and main copy marked with handwritten marginal comments, questions
and responses by editor and author. The full 1,398-page volume is
not bound, but it is boxed.
