The Owls of North American
1973
A large, coffee-table sized volume, richly and brilliantly illustrated
with the watercolors of wildlife artist Karl E. Karalus, this book
closely describes the natural history of all known species and subspecies
of owls in North American -- from the largest (the Great Gray Owl
of the north) to the smallest (the elf and pygmy owls of the desert
southwest), including their descriptions, courtship and nesting
habits, hunting abilities, hearing and night vision and various
other aspects of their natural history. Published in a high-quality
leatherbound, gilt-edged limited edition, in a special hardbound
boxed edition and in a standard dust-jacketed hardbound edition.
Originally published in 1979 by Doubleday, New York City. Later
republished in a cheaper hardcover edition by Crown.
