Wild Season
1967
A nature novel that, by following the activities of one creature
after another, tells the story of the delicate balance of nature
in and around a small midwestern lake habitat. It shows how the
lives of all plants and animals are very closely related in a natural
balance and shows how, while survival in nature depends upon various
species preying upon one another, yet there is never waste in nature
and it is only man who deliberately wastes his precious natural
resources. Winner of many awards, including the Friends of American
Writers Award, this book has often been used as a classroom aid
in the study of nature and ecology and has been excerpted into a
number of textbooks. It was serialized in True magazine and reprinted
in numerous foreign languages. It was also nominated for a Pulitzer
Prize in fiction. Published in hardcover, paperback and trade paperback
editions. Originally published in 1967 by Little, Brown & Co.,
Boston, MA, and is still in print by Landfall Press of Dayton, Ohio.
